Marya Stark
Marya Stark is the head of Business Development for Allegory, Inc. She is also a Founder and the Board Chair of Emerge America, the premier national leadership training program for Democratic women who want to run for public office. Previously, Marya was the Founding Executive Director of Emerge. Emerge now serves eight states and to date, 40% of Emerge America's 500 graduates hold public office and 80 alumnae ran for office in 2008. Almost half of Emerge America graduates are women of color.www.emergeamerica.org.
Marya has also served as a demographer for the Central Intelligence Agency and as a Financial Analyst at the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, the former regulator of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Marya was also a Founder of Kids Computer Workshop, a successful program which teaches technology skills in Washington DC's charter schools. Marya started her career in corporate finance as an analyst at Smith, Barney in New York. She continued her mergers and acquisitions work at an investment advisory boutique that she started with a colleague, and later at Completel, a telecommunications company in Paris, France.
Marya holds a business degree from UC Berkeley and a Masters degree in Applied Statistics from Georgetown University.
